Monthly* Lunch and Learn Meetings
Typically we hold a monthly ITMA Lunch and Learn Meeting and this is our primary method of staying connected to industry professionals and to the latest topics facing our industry. This is a fun but educational meeting that is sure to keep you abreast of changes in the International Transportation Logistics Community.
The luncheons are usually held on the first Wednesday of each month at The Greenspoint Club located at 16925 Northchase in north Houston, but the schedule can change and postings regarding this change will be posted on this website.

I.T.M.A.'s Choice Award

The I.T.M.A.'s Choice Award was created in 2006. The purpose of this annual award is to give every logistics professional the opportunity to have a venue to thank and give recognition to a deserving individual who is a 'best in class' service provider.
Any ITMA member can nominate someone that they believe goes the extra mile in customer service within the logistics industry and is a 'best in class' professional.
ITMA wants to know what service provider will you nominate for their impressive performance? That special professional will be the one that can come through when the going gets tough and consistently gives 100% effort!
Annual Mack Johnson Golf Tournament
I.T.M.A. holds the Mack Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament every spring and is one of our largest Scholarship Fundraisers of the year. It is well known industry wide and is possibly the most well attended Houston Transportation Industry Tournament.We typically host approx. 160 Golfers and it is a perfect time for transportation companies to meet top logistics professionals that may only get to one ITMA event a year! Sponsors find that their advertising dollars go a long way at this event, as top contributors actually have Scholarships named in their honor awarded at the May Scholarship Ceremony.
There are many ways to get involved even if you don't play golf. One of our highlights are the sponsored Beverage Stations! They have themes and participants go all out to win the Best Station Award! There are 4 stations, and at each station the Golfers pick a card for the Poker Run, with the last card being given out at the clubhouse when they finish their competition.
Prizes are donated by our membership.

National Transportation Week - May
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared a permanent date for National Transportation Week, the week in May which contains the third Friday (National Defense Transportation Day,) with the Maritime Day on the following Saturday.
ITMA celebrates this week that recognizes our industry in several ways. In 2007 we held our first Road Rally and had a great time sharing in the camaraderie of our fellow logistics professionals.
We have also reached out to the other Transportation Clubs of Houston to join together and combine our efforts to organize joint events. We look forward to developing this further in 2008.

I.T.M.A. Scholarship Ceremony

The most important meeting of the year! This is what we've been working for all year long. Our Lunch Meeting will host our Scholarship Award Ceremony where our Recipients are honored and receive their certificates of award.
James Costello Memorial Scholarship
James Costello, of A. X. Soto, a charter member and president of ITMA in 1981-82 was a champion of education regarding all industry disciplines and of promoting continuing education for transportation professionals.
In 1994 the ITMA Board of Directors proclaimed that a scholarship fund be named in his memory as a tribute to his leadership. The 2007 James Costello Memorial Scholarship Fund Disbursements will be awarded at a designated ITMA Luncheon Meeting.

Port of Houston Boat Tour (AKA: Sam Houston Boat Tour) June
The Port of Houston Authority's free public tour boat gives a special invitation to the ITMA Membership!
This has traditionally been one of our best I.T.M.A. events! Food and drinks are provided by the Port of Houston and it is a great mixer for networking and for those who may not have seen the port up close, it is a very interesting and educational tour!
Named for the legendary military commander who led the fight for Texas independence from Mexico and later statehood, the M/V Sam Houston offers free leisurely 90-minute round-trip cruises along the Houston Ship Channel.
Embarking from the port's Sam Houston Pavilion, visiting sightseers can enjoy passing views of international cargo vessels, and operations at the port's Turning Basin Terminal. Measuring 95 feet in length and 24 feet in width, the boat carries a maximum capacity of 100 passengers with air-conditioned lounge seating and additional standing room on the boat's rear deck.
We advise that you arrive at least 15 minutes, preferably half hour, before your tour launches to assure that you have plenty of time to check in through security and to board the vessel.

Fall Classic Golf Tournament

Our Golfers will find this to be one of the best events of the year. This is our most exclusive tournament and is networking at it's best.
Only in its second year, we believe this event was so well received in 2007 that it will quickly become a date that the savvy golfer will not miss.
The award dinner is a highlight of the event - The Deerwood cooking team pulls out all of the stops with Ribeye Steaks cooked outside to your order and perfection!

Transportation Night at the Sheraton JFK - First ThursdayThis is not an ITMA hosted Function, but we like to keep you posted to social events in our industry. This event is hosted by the 'Just Shipping Network'. No need to RSVP or pay in advance! Just drop in and join us for Transportation Night on the North Side the first Thursday of every month.
