Supervise Traffic Manager (1) in California office and Traffic Coordinators (3) in Tulsa office.
Procure primary and back up commercial freight carriers, contract carriers and international freight forwarders incorporating interstate, international commerce regulations and corporate guidelines to ensure greater efficiency in the shipping and receiving operations.  
Negotiate rates and place under contract LTL/TL carriers. Achieved rate reductions or lessened rate increases through competitive bidding strategies with multiple carriers.  
Identified and implemented improved carrier service standards in conservation of transportation funds. 
Successfully created and maintained close “partner” relationships with all contract and common carriers promoting a solid communication link between operations, sales and the carriers. 
Audit, Approve and/or investigate discrepancies with all transportation related accounts payable invoices.  As Traffic Manager at John Zink Co. LLC, I was responsible for $4 Million freight transportation expenditures. 
Provide support to the corporate sales group in a wide range of activities requiring use of international freight forwarders, rate quotes and transit times.  
Monitored and maintained complete carrier records including, but not limited to analyzing carrier costs performance and KPI. 
Train / inform customer service, traffic routing, and the sales group in the functions of carrier selection via corporate guidelines, along with how to utilize carrier websites to simplify shipping and receiving functions. 
Proactively communicate carrier issues, changes or limitations, along with carrier cut off times, packaging, documentation, and size requirements, to both the sales and operations group. 
Responsible for the selection, rate negotiation and monitoring of carriers and forwarders used for special, “out of norm” shipments.  
Plan and initiate over-dimensional, over-weight permit loads requiring DOT permits, escorts and carrier route surveys. 
Prepare and approve transportation documents on Pitney Bowes Transportation Management System. 
Generate bills of lading, commercial invoices, hazmat declarations, Shipper’s Export Declarations, NAFTA, certificates of conformance, Canadian Customs Invoice. 
Independently handled many issues and responsibilities that were typically out of the realm of duties associated with transportation management.
